gear abilities should be base line or use the MKX variation system
i like playing poison ivy, and she is advertised as a zoner but really most her damage comes from combos, her damage isnt high and she lacks tools some of the other zoners have but she does well enough to be viable but as once i got to lvl 20 with her i got an ability tha gave her a tradtiononal style projectile and made me wonder why it wasnt base line especially since she only has vine drill which is her only real zoning tool outside of her trair so i wondered why doesnt she have options base line like other zoners

but then i started playing other characters to find that its pretty much the same why arent some of the abilities from gear options base line because in competitive mode or ranked gear is off and so is the optional abilities

i have seen this mentioned many times before but i think some of the abilities should be made base line and in all honesty replace some exiting special moves like ivy's bed of thorns is so useless its just a gimmick that has no meaning and thats base line for some reason

or what i was hoping from the beginning and what i have seen many others mention is MKX varation system, like maybe you have a mid range/grappler hybrid one varation keeps them that way while another makes them more full grappler, while the last one makes them more mid range in this example

idk but i hope after all the people wanting a change involving the gear abilities that NRS might do something if anything really xa0
