The Multiverse events in Injustice 2 are really starting to aggravate me. Not because I can't complete them, but because of the requirements on some of them quite literally amounting to trolling.
Things like; 'complete challenge x wearing all common gear or all rare gear'. Right after I sold all of it, because I have all epic on my main; So why would I hold on to lesser gear when I can get money from it?
One in-fight challenge I got was to complete 5 meter-burn specials... in a match where specials of any kind without exception (for me) were disabled. Thanks, I'll rise to that challenge.xa0 That's like saying 'if you swim a lap in this pool you'll get a bonus; but you can't move your body!'
What's coming next?
'Connect a camera to your console wear gold pants and a blue shirt and fight 20 Jokers at once while standing on your head and using the controller with your feet'xa0 Prize: 2 silver motherboxes.
That's another thing. Plenty of the rewards do not in even the most remote capacity match the work that goes into getting them.xa0 From the challenges themselves they usually do, but from the multiverse objectives? No. Not in the slightest.
So I have to grind a bunch of fights trying to get rare or common gear for my character (again) and since gear affinity is a lie, I'll spend the majority of that time seeing gear of the wrong quality drop for the wrong characters. If by some miracle I manage to get the 'materials' I need I am very likely to run out of time and have that particular multiverse expire on me when I'm half way to three quarters complete on the objectives.
I quit playing MMOs because of this complete nonsense.xa0 The 'grind until you feel pathetic and lose everything anyway' feeling they often bring.
I can complete understand having a variety of challenge conditions but lets not have them be completly f'ing ridiculous.xa0 How about something real like 'finish challenge X with hero x and perform 3 20 hit combos? Keep grinding requirements out of it. it's a complete **bleep** move and it highlights a lazy approach to gameplay design.xa0 Not everyone is going to beat every challenge/objective, but the barrier shouldn't be something that amounts to trolling, and it should be something that can be tacked with what the player or character has at a base level.
