    Good question

hopefully the other gems have uses too

maybe white and green are for different stats?

I thought it was just one Perfect Gem we needed to re-roll the 2nd stat on Epic/Legendary or the only Stat on Rare items, not Myriam too.   I could be wrong though.   The  Myrian will be used to upgrade Inventory items to your current level (amongst its other current uses).   I hope they either randomize the Perfect Gem color needed for the stat re-roll (to spread it equally among all 3) or as you said, specific to Weapon (Red), Clothing (Green) and Rune (white).  Still a little lopsided, but at least they'll have uses for them.   Like many others, I've been keeping duplicates of many of my Legendary gear and some key Epic pieces since the stat re-roll ability was known.    There was already a huge range of Inventory Items and multiple unique Legendary Gear pieces from the same Tribe/Class, so the combinations with the re-roll will be that much more expanded.

They better make the other two gems useful, I don’t wanna be sitting on heaps of green and white and be craving more red all the time.

I don't care if it's just warrior gems or not (which I doubt it will be; I'm sure wealth and life gems will be used, too), I just wish that all TIERS of gems could be used. Like, lower-tier gems give you more common perks (like "Quick throw applies fire every X seconds"), while higher-tier gems give you more desirable perks (like "Gain 6 wrath on a stealth kill").

Perfect gems take a while to get if you're in the middle of a playthrough like me. But from the looks of it, it'll just be Perfect gems, sadly.

Yeah I think it will just be perfect gems only that allow you to re-roll stats. Perfect gems take a considerable amount of time to acquire. I have about 16-18 red, green, and white pefect gems each. That took quite a lot of play time, and there is really no quick method of farming gems. At least I haven't come across an effective method of farming them.

    Turn on gem hunter skill.
    Mount your dire caragor
    Go to easy difficulty.
You can grind gems at a remarkable rate.
    Still a grind tho.

On second thought Brutal may be better than easy. Swarms of orcs.

What I don't like is having to manually forge the lesser gems into larger ones. But a superior gem is pretty insane, as it requires 243 gems of the lowest rarity.

So rerolling won't be something you can do very often. Then again, if you put on the skill for rarer gems you can severely cut back the amount of gem drops you need. I don't know which tiers drop then but then you will need only 81. Add in a few Ologs (which may also go up a tier?) and then you could potentially get a lot of them.

I have an absolute crazy amount of gems but I will be restarting the game after the update, so there's that.

Farming gems is one of the things I dread most per se, especially because I like to use all red gems and green on dagger. So farm farm farm farm farm.

With the Gem Hunter skill enabled, all gems you get from grunts update one level.   Non-Olog Grunts now give Wealth Gems, Ologs give Refined.   Those 'gem' rewards you receive for completing side challenges in missions stay the same though.

I've been swapping between Discerning eye (gear) and Prospector (gems) fairly regularly over the last 3-4 week. Using Prospector really helps, as Pizzaface noted, grinding your lowly gems is a real slog and something I do periodically to help reduce their numbers.    Honestly though, with the myriad of gear available (literally thousands of unqiue items) combined with the ability to level up gear in the July update, rerolling for those who have completed the game won't hold that much importance (there are always exceptions though).   But hey, it's a use for the gems so I'm not complaining, and for those starting anew it will be very useful

It'll make getting certain gear much easier, and honestly I almost never swap mine anyway.

The problem with Prospector for gems without gear upgrades though is, that at least in a first playthrough, by the time you unlock said skill you will already have a large portion of the required gems. Or maybe I just kill too many orcs.

p.s. all red but dagger means I need 5*3^5 red gems or 1215 of them. I don't even have that, although I do have more of the higher quality as well and I made an extra bunch of top tier from the 3-4 tiers.
I have 1171 tier 1 red gems though lol.

Speaking of gems can the “forge higher tier” option be like instantaneous? I mean really once you have a few hundred or so it becomes like a test of patience I don’t know to this day why it takes like a whole two seconds and why you can’t hold it down and it keeps going and gets faster, it really should right? Especially after this update for sure.

Agree. It wasn't as much of an issue since you only had to do it "once" and once you get 6 of them you don't need any more.

Agreed that gems should upgrade instantly.

Another thing to help increase the number of gems gained is to make a region have a Marauder Overlord. It increases the number of treasure orcs in that region.

If you really want to farm gems you should do a vendetta where the draw-out mission is to kill 5 ologs. Then just kill grunts and Ologs while the alarm is going off. You will make tons of gems.

I accidentally broke the spawn in Gorgoroth's fortress doing that. I recorded some videos of it. I killed around 7 or 8 thousand orcs in the hour and a half it was happening. Ended up with quite a bit of gems and Mirian out of it. Gonna try and see if I can make it happen again when I get home from work.

It would've gone on longer if I didn't accidentally let them kill my Graug. The swarm was so huge that I was seeing 10 to 12 ologs at a time. They just kept spawning from behind a little wagon by the dozens. Once my Graug died I went down pretty quickly to them though.

If anyone wants to see it, my gamertag is the same as my username and you can go to xboxdvr.com to look at my recordings. If I'm able to cause it again I'll post what I did here.

I hate uploading videos but I have encountered some spawn bugs as well, but the other day one is one fort (may well have been gorgoroth) and it was more insane than other spawn bugs. Also, I had the poison graug so I could just hold down the right trigger and kill them as they spawned, but my graug did die in a few minutes, I do play on brutal. I have no idea how many Orcs that killed, but they were spawning constantly rather than say in Minas Morgul, there is an easy to trigger spot but then you need to trigger it again and again, you can't just stay in one place.

My Graug was a fire one so I did the same thing. I knew how many I killed because the last time I played the game it didn't track stats so I only had a handful of kills.
