Sorry for another lengthy post, but I love this game and enjoy discussing it with other players, whether discussing my own thoughts and ideas, or theirs. So if anyone takes the time to read this, I'd appreciate your feedback on these thoughts. I would however like to clarify that I know Monolith are done with the game and we're unlikely to see anymore updates, but these are a few tweaks, bug fixes and aesthetic changes I would love to see if possible; these are the sorts of things you may possibly see from talented modders, if this game had such support:
- Major Bug fixes
I'm not sure how long these would take, or how easy to fix, but it would be great to see the infinite loading screens, crashes and stutters, death during loading screens, warchiefs in Minas Morgul and all the other significant game breaking bugs ironed out. It would be impossible to completely fix the game, but I would be happy if these occurred less frequently.
- Perfect Gem re-roll requirements
Getting perfect gems for a re-roll is kind of a grindy process. I get that it’s a really cool feature, but would it be possible to incorporate a large mirian cost for re-rolls, the ability to purchase lesser gems with mirian or a more consistent way of acquiring the gems we need, rather than hoping for the right drops from treasure orcs, special graugs and drakes?
- Talion's wraith form inconsistency
I'm pretty sure that chain abilities freeze time or slow it to almost a halt, allowing Talion or Celebrimbor to quickly kill multiple opponents one at a time, but certain abilities where Talion and Celebrimbor work together make no sense after Talion takes Isildur's ring, as he is the wraith. For abilities like double counter, Wraith shield and Deadly Spectre, would it not make more sense for Talion's second wraith to be replaced with a Gondorian White? It would fit in, considering he wears Isildur's ring, too.
- My Ringwraith rework suggestion
I've already discussed this in detail, but replacing the underwhelming elemental weapon upgrades for resurrected grunts with things that change how the ability functions would make the ability much more interesting and fun to use. I thought of one having an increased number of Gondorian whites, another having a significantly shorter duration while giving Talion uninterruptable and unblockable attacks and reduced incoming damage, and a final ability that acts as a slightly upgraded Elven Rage, removing the AoE blast at the end, but keeping the summoned Gondorian Whites and having them linger for a short while after the ability ends.
- A Changeable Wraith option
Sorry guys, but we're not getting Celebrimbor's voicelines back. However, using assets in the game, someone could add an additional option to the skin selection screen, to select a skin for your wraith. These could simply be:
Gravewalker (Talion’s default wraith); equipping this skin would function like the default and corrupted Talion skins, except in this instance, the model would replace the wraiths for Eltariel, Baranor, Serka and Celebrimbor with Talion’s default wraith.
Counterbalance (Talion’s cloakless wraith model) It would function the same as above. It would basically be the previous Wraith model Talion had before the patch that came with the Blade of Galadriel dlc. I'm not fussed whether or not the wraith has the crown, but some people liked it a lot.
Brightlord (Replaces the wraith with a blue Celebrimbor skin) This would not replace Talion’s voicelines or ringwraith, but it would address some of the player-base’ complaints and would also go nicely with the Celebrimbor skin.
Nazgul (Fully replaces the wraith with an armoured Nazgul, complete with robes) This would function the same as the other skins
As with the skins, selecting the currently equipped skin would unequip it, restoring the default wraith. This would also function well with Eltariel’s skins, justifying the Uruk’s addressing her as Talion and having his domination and siege voice lines.
- A few extra skins (Kind of greedy, I know, but hear me out)
I would personally love another skin whose appearance is unaffected by the armour you wear. These would include:
- Dark Ranger. This would be Talion’s default corrupted appearance from the cutscenes. Equipping this skin would allow you to closely match Talion’s default wraith appearance and the colour palette would remain the same, appearing exactly how he does in the Brightlord and Blade of Galadriel cutscenes. With this skin, talion would not be quite so pale, his eyes would remain their natural colour and the dark veins on his face would barely be visible. If they were ever to add another skin to the game, this would be my number one choice.
2. Ranger of the Blackgate. Talion’s default ranger armour. This armour looks really good and this skin would be great to use during a playthrough, keeping the default appearance regardless of armour changes.
3/4. Cloakless Variants of Talion’s default Ranger and Servant armours. In the ending cutscene, cloakless Talion looks like it would make a really good skin. A Cloakless Servent armour skin would look really good and would also synergise with my previous idea of having a cloakless wraith skin for Talion. Both of these skins would be identical to his default armours, only without their respective cloaks.
5. Nazgul. A lot of players wanted a Nazgul skin. This would also look good with my previous idea of a Nazgul skin for the wraith.
And that’s it for this lengthy post. As previously mentioned, I know we won't be seeing anymore updates for this game, but if anything was done to tweak what is already an excellent game, these are the changes I would most like to see. And to anyone who read this, thanks for taking the time. I’d love to discuss my ideas, or anything anyone else would like to add.
