I think they mentioned in one of the streams before the release that they weren't planning on putting the mercenaries in the main game at all.

The good news is that buying 'friends' in real life with valid currency is always a good option.

In the stream Jared said that aside from balancing issues etc. they actually have to make choices in design in terms of computing power, which is why for example Baranor can't ride caragors.

Ah thanks to both of you. I didn’t know that. It’s good to know but a pity that it’s not happening. Thanks again

It's not a bad idea to have new elements like this in the nemesis system but it's likely to be more a thing they look at if they were planning to make another game with it then one to add in to this one.

you mean to tell me that the same guy who can wear all of Talion’s gear and such can’t also ride beasts? What a strange world...

Using Baranor’s skin in the Main Game you can ride cars goes but in the DLC you can’t.

I just don’t see as to why that was something they couldn’t do, granted they would have to change animations for it but that didn’t really stop them with the summoning bodyguards and stuff still having Talion’s animations so I don’t get it really. I mean they even had torvin as an out for them to make tutorials for baranor to learn how to do it but they didn’t have that in there like I expected, kinda bummed me out honestly because he can’t dominate or mount it takes away some of that “Shadow of” feel from the other games. I know it’s a dlc and they went for something different but even eltariel could ride beasts but she said she didn’t like domination so I don’t get it.

On the flip sides Caragors are pretty much useless anyway.

They get Talion places faster which makes them as useful as the average bicycle, if the average bicycle had teeth, attacked people at random and had a liking for eating it's victims.

If you have a bicycle like that then congratulations you live in a Stephen King novel.
