Free dlc Revealed in the Most Recent Stream
- Baranor skin - a skin that replaces Talion's face with Baranor including a new wraith face, uses Talion's armour and voice.
- new photo mode upgrades - more stickers, filters and general goodness
- Brutal difficulty - 'realism mode', you deal more damage, gain might and wrath faster, you take a lot more damage, you get a single last chance, not as hard as gravewalker but contains some of the same features.
- Bodyguards for overlords within the forts - extra options for orcs and spies
- Ability to search for forts by name of users - meaning you can friendly assault people who are not your friends
A second skin and Talion being playable in Lithlad are only available if you purchase the Desolation of Mordor dlc

Wasnt there multiple locked skins. Some will be related to eltariel i guess depending on the save/build being used. I will have to rewatch but if there was an extra, i guess that will be what tou describe. There were two eltariel skins.
Oh. Now then. Was it two for the base game? Or one for the base game and one in the dlc?
Not sure. Ill have to fire uo the game later and have a butchers.
Long story short, hopefully we will get a full baranor skin aswell. -
So its lame that the free content is exactly (some of) what the community asked for. And its free. Thats free stuff thats not good enough because why? Because its free? Or exactly what the community asked for? Which part of that is lame?
They could have just not bothered.
And nobody is forced to do anything. But to be asked a fee for a substantial piece of content is perfectly acceptable. -
I am cautiously optimistic about new content in July.
And remember they only just finished all the DLC so that's when it makes sense to do new free stuff, rather than delay DLC for free stuff. Plus, they don't legally owe us any free content.
Although I will say there is still some bugs in my game and that's kind of annoying. -
I loved hearing about the 2 Bodyguard additions to support the Overlord, very very happy. It's been something I've certainly wanted to see and submitted to them via enhancement request. It will instantly make the Ovrd position incrementally stronger, easily the weakest position and point in any Online Fort Assault as it stands now. Doesn't matter how strong the individual Overlord is, he doesn't stand a chance against Talion and what he brings. Interesting that they had originally planned to have this in the game during intital development prior to release, but just couldn't figure out the best way to implement it. This should now also increase the number of Followers/Captains by at least 2 per region, assuming they don't nix 2 of the current slots by simply moving them up to frame the Overllord position. I hope these are also not 'regular' bodyguard slots but akin to Warchief slots in that they are protected from the hijinx of the open world regarding Missions and the like. We shall find out shortly.
It also makes sense for them to increase the difficulty of Online Sieges due to the increased rewards of a Legendary TO per Spoils of War chest. THis also supports the notion that they can now screen out the 'old' forts that don't have bodyguards for the Overlord so that only those Forts with the upgrade (eg all recent/active players) will be those you are matched with via Online Siege mechanic. Can't wait to test this out.

Post game, the story details of mortal and immortal don't really matter. Imo. After everything is done in the base, there would be no harm in allowing baranor to do some of the base game stuff.
But granted, it would make no sense at all before finishing the game from a narrative perspective. -
The only way you could put Baranor into the base game is to have set missions for him or have him as an option for sieges, his lack of domination and his mortality would make him in the actual game kinda pointless unless you also added the mercenary function which I don't think they will.

For sieges and such! Exactly. Wasnt that what we wanted in the first place? Same with eltariel. Isnt the purpose of the request to allow us to use the new characters in sieges?
Baranor running round freely in the base game doesnt really make sense for the reasons you suggest.
Perhaps what we could actually do with, is a character selection screen before a siege/defence mission. -
I would suggest that for purely free roaming purposes, she has her dlc. Theres no difference in mechanics and putting her in the base game on that bases alone is almost pointless. She couldn't do anything extra by simply being there. She would "play" in exactly the same way. The only reason to transplant her into the base game is specifically the fortress related content. Other than of course, the ability to visit minis morgul or a fortress in seragost (spelling?) that isnt made useless. Take the fortress out of the equation and you essentially have the same gameplay you do in the dlc.
granted it would be more user friendly to just switch between characters rather than loading the dlc bit the major appeal, ie the fortress stuff, at least post game, could be tackled by bithe eltarial and baranor.
