Followers Level Up BUG?!
One follower was just a low level follower I recruited in Minas Morgul, so the follower went directly into my army.
The other two, I deployed straight from my Garrison, just to test this.
ALL 3 FOLLOWERS, up from between Level 12 to 17, to Epic, to Legendary, to Level 80....
NEVER lost a single weakness, and never gained a single strength.
Their stats all stayed EXACTLY the same!
I submitted a bug report for this. If anybody else has this problem, and, in your opinion, believe this to be a bug (to me, this seems extremely unusual), PLEASE submit a report by going here:

At any point in your life, have you ever had your internet go out on you? You call tech support and they say "Ok unplug your moder and router, please." You do it, like a fool, knowing that it isn't going to do anything to fix your problem. They insist that it will. In your gut, you just know it won't. You're more familiar with your own home, neighborhood, internet, etc. Than they are, and you just know in your heart of hearts, that before there is a fix, they are definitely going to need to send a technician out. In the end, after they've sent a technician, sure enough, there was a problem outside, with the lines, or let's say for lack of better terms, "A problem that only they could fix." Then they fix it. FINALLY. Then your internet returns to normal function.
Well, Jared, I still don't understand from a technical standpoint you could actually believe something as simple as a hard reset could fix this, but yes, I went ahead and performed the almighty hard reset.
I held the power button in for 20 seconds for a full shut down from the dashboard. Unplugged the power cable and waited for one minute. Plugged it back in. Booted up my Xbox and the game, and guess what? It didn't work.
So now I am supposed to go right back to the same customer service for help, who sent me on this dummy mission in the first place?
"Hasn't anyone taken a look at the recent post just made with a video clip demonstrating this issue in PLAIN SIGHT??!"
Once again, we believe everyone that has reported it that their game/save has this issue. The video is very helpful in showing what the issue looks like."
May I ask what is being done about the issue, then? -
Well I've tested a bunch of scenarios now, such as; Fight pits, sending captains on ambushes/duels and either accompanying them or letting the timer run down for it to resolve automatically, letting naturally spawning nemesis missions including trial by ordeal, ambushes and duels auto resolve or join in with them, giving followers level orders, having followers kill a random captain without it being a nemesis mission and so far after several hours of testing the only things that have changed are occasional extra class traits appearing, or a hate of cowards/rival. However, one captain that had been garrisoned actually gained beast slayer which is interesting, but so far that's it. I'm going to wait until I reach a higher level until I can really make a final judgement but there definitely seems to be something strange going on. -
Have you ever seen an attack? Give me a break. Could you be more dramatic?
There's been no name-calling, foul language, or insults out of me towards Jared in this thread.
I'm not the type of person who "gets hung up on".
I'm the type of person who never calls. I have the courage to speak directly to people. Firmly, but without insult, or "attack".
You sound like a delicate snowflake. If you'd ever been attacked, you'd know it. -
Let's not let this spill over into something uncivil, if anyone misbehaves either Jared will deal with it or I will we don't need people calling each other out or making comments or what anyone else is doing because that's never going to make any situation better so please as this guy would say...

Yeah I know that, but so far out of about 15 orcs that were garrisoned, only a couple have had any change and as i said, it's just been enraged by weakness/rival. No weaknesses lost, no other strengths gained except for one who randomly gained beast slayer. Like I said I'm going to wait until I'm a higher level before I make a final judgement

lol that's crazy. It wasn't doing anything for awhile but suddenly the stats are showing in my signature :P thanks
Anyway, finally checked this glitch out with a garrisoned follower. I just grabbed an orc with a reassignment order and put him back out. I leveled him up 15 levels without any increase/decrease in stats. What a nasty bug. I'll go ahead and report it too. -

Hard Reset didn't work for you? Have you reached back out to the customer support and told them?
I turn off my power bar (which the Xbox One is plugged into) once a week (Sundays), routine occurrence. The response from Monolith did not suggest I do a hard reset in an attempt to fix this problem, so I did not reply to them that a hard reset does not fix this. They had no troubleshooting suggestions. Monlith's reply to my ticket is listed in this thread:
I've sent roughly 2 dozen tickets into Monlith this year for various SoW bugs. If the subject of the bug is discussed here prior to submitting I've always embed at least 1 of those links to the ticket and refer the client support tech to review that thread for additional, current info.
Fun fact, the players of Shadow of War played the game MORE hours in 1 day, than the entire studio did in 2 years. If y'all were able to test during the development cycle, it'd have been very helpful :). You don't need to speculate about why there are bugs, the reason why is because the player base is able to test the game WAY more than we can. Thus bugs will be found by players that no one at the studio ever saw, even when testing the game for years.
lol - that's not suprising, and glad it sold well so quickly. I hold by my original point though, and I will also add developing/supporting it across 3 platforms (Xbox One/PS/PC) is a huge challenge and resource heavy effort.

Can you provide additional info plz on this subject. I go to Xboxclips and I don't find it intuitive at all. There's no 'signature' embed code to copy/paste - it's pretty basic with very limited features. Lists your clips and screen grabs, add them to Twitter, create GIF, little else from what I see. I'll embed a a link to one of my vids showing a glitch here, but don't know if it will work .

Rather not embed the mp4 either (d/l to PC then upload via attachment)

I'm not sure what I did for the signature thing. It was weird. I spent about an hour on that site simply refreshing things. Went to the Xbox website to manage my privacy settings and messed around on Shadow of War for a bit. When I came back to the forums my signature was showing that stat report somehow lol. -
Well, after three Nemesis Missions and two Battle Trainings, Pushkrimp Gold-Fang went from level 29 to level 80 and nothing else changed. Big surprise.
Just in case @MonolithJared is curious:
I'm on my second playthrough at almost 300 hrs on Nemesis. First one on Normal lasted over 300 hrs (340 I think). I have the Season Pass, thus all DLC. I forget when I started over, but it was after Desolation came out and before the Market closed. This issue first cropped up with Spoils of War Chest followers on my first playthrough before I had any of the DLC. To be precise, a level 25 Legendary I took up to level 60 whose traits never changed. Why didn't I report it then? I hadn't found this board or even signed up for WBID at that point. Also, I assumed it was just a way of pushing the microtransactions by making followers from Spoils chests weaker than ones from paid chests, prompting more people to buy Gold. I also had no way of knowing it affected regular followers, since the only followers I'd ever relocated were already at or near max level. Since then, I've come to realize that no follower ever placed in the garrison gains strengths or loses weaknesses. The only exceptions I've found are traits added directly through Training Orders or weaknesses picked up through repeated shamings. And none of the shame-related weaknesses ever go away. I did the hard reset, and, as Mr. Gold-Fang can attest, it appears to have done diddly squat.
-
I don't know if it's just me, but I found the most reliable way of removing weaknesses/gaining strengths is to Overlord Fight.
I had a guy Lvl 60 get rid of 4 weakness save a vulnerable to Beast weakness from doing so.
Every other time I used a training order it didn't work, no weakness/no strength.
I almost want the Orc chests to come back simply for the chane of a vulnerable to stealth/no weakness Captain to pop. In fact I have over 100 I'm saving for when bugs like this are ironed out (if they are)
-
There's not much more to be done, I'm afraid . This is completely out of our hands. It the devs aren't able to recreate it and then fix it, we're stuck with it. I guess I should consider myself lucky. Not being able to level up garrisoned followers is bad enough; if none of them improved it wouldn't be worth playing this game anymore.

That's one levelling up method I haven't tried, the OFP - but the BIG problem with that is you forced to do this via a Forted region, and that is full of risks:
-Captain poof gone replacement 'by design' mechanic
-the issue of Warchiefs gaining Hysterical/Shaken Master weakknesses when demoted/re-promoted
-Nemesis Mission grabbing your 'true' Overlord during swapping and locking him into a series of trails (Gravewalker difficulty in play)
-Risk of Betrayals
-Risk of Rebellions
etc etc
So I won't be testing the OFP route in levelling up, such a thing does not exist in MM (where all my Captain levelling up ./training occurs).
Levelling them up via the non-Online FP (Maggots/Warriors/Champions), like all the other levelling up mechanics does not provide them new Strengths and/or lose/reduce the severity of existing weaknesses.
-
Beyond all that, the OFP is also a VERY risky method of levelling up and one that puts you at a huge disadvantage from the get-go if you have a Common or even Epic guy in there u want to level up. Unless you want to quit out of it if/when your guy is losing (assuming u can do that in OFP like u can in regular FP), nor is it exactly the 'honorable' thing to do.
-
Yeah it's not a game breaker for me either, just another in a list of unresolved bugs. That part of the game I don't bother with anymore - to recruit lower level guys and level them up to become stronger. Instead, if I recruit a low level guy from a Vendetta, he has to have one of 2 things:
1) have excellent existing stats to begin with, as the only thing that will change within his attributes will be his level.
and/or
2) be a unique Captain like 'the Machine', 'the Twins', 'the Flies', etc etc
That's another reason why I don't bother restarting a new game, that this levelling up bug will be chronic in my new playthrough, which would be a game breaker for me.
